Summary
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2021 330i, 330i xDrive, M340i, M3, and 330e xDrive vehicles. The bolt securing the seat belt assembly to the frame was not tightened to specification.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the front seat belt buckle assembly connection and, if necessary, replace it, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on June 25, 2021. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

AFFECTED VEHICLES
Vehicles which require this Campaign to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR, the “Service Menu” of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System), ISPA Next or Warranty Vehicle Inquiry.
SITUATION
BMW AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective April 21, 2021) on a small number of Model Year 2021 BMW 3 Series and M3 vehicles that were produced between October 28, 2020 and March 16, 2021. This has been changed to a Safety Recall as of April 28, 2021.
The retaining screw for the safety belt buckle on the front seats may not be properly torqued. A ratting noise may be noticed from the bottom of the safety belt buckle when fastening the safety belt.
The Recall Notice and Q&A have been attached for further information.
CORRECTION
Check the retaining screw for the safety belt buckle on both front seats.
Rework if necessary.
PROCEDURE
Check the bolt connection of the lower safety belt (belt buckle) on both front seats for correct screw connection.
It is not necessary to remove the seats for this.
Check whether the bolt for the lower safety belt buckle is in contact with the seat frame.
Note: Do not retighten or tighten the bolt.
If the bolt is not screwed into contact with the seat frame, then the bolt must be replaced according to the repair instructions 72 11 255 Front lower belt.

Performing a part number look-up in ETK (EPC) by VIN or model in place of using/invoicing the following part numbers may result with the wrong part numbers being invoiced and installed, this could delay the payment of the claim.

BMW AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective April 21, 2021) on a small number of Model Year 2021 BMW 3 Series and M3 vehicles that were produced between October 28, 2020 and March 16, 2021. This has been changed to a Safety Recall as of April 28, 2021.
Please be reminded that it is a violation of federal law (The Safety Act) for you to sell, lease or deliver any new motor vehicle covered by this notification until the recall repair has been performed. This means that centers may not legally deliver new motor vehicles to consumers until they are fixed or use/sell replacement equipment/parts subject to this recall. Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of the Safety Act.
Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any Certified Pre-Owned or used vehicles subject to a safety recall until the repair is completed.
Please follow any special instructions that we provide to you for the return or disposition of recall parts.

has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain Model Year 2021 BMW
3 Series and M3 models. Our records indicate that you are the owner of a potentially affected vehicle.

The front seat safety belt buckle assemblies will be checked and, if necessary, replaced for free which could
take about an hour.
