Description of the Noncompliance :
This non-compliance recall involves the tire information placard. Potentially affected vehicles have been equipped with a tire information placard in which the manufacturer’s front and/or rear recommended cold tire inflation pressure values, and tire size, do not correspond to the specific tires which have been installed on the vehicle during assembly. Regarding tire inflation pressure, the values on the placard may be slightly lower than they otherwise would be on the label required for the installed tires. Therefore, potentially affected vehicles may not fully conform to FMVSS 110 Section 4.3(c) and 4.3(d). FMVSS 1 : 110 – Tire selection and rims
FMVSS 2 : NR Part 573 Safety Recall Report 24V-327 Page 2 Description of the Safety Risk : If a driver relied solely on the tire information placard, and did not check the vehicle’s owner’s manual (in-vehicle electronic and/or paper), or contact BMW customer service, then the tires could be inflated to a pressure slightly lower than that which would be on the label required for the tires installed during vehicle assembly. The slightly lower tire inflation pressure may affect handling and control of the vehicle, and may increase the risk of a crash.

On April 30, 2024, it was noticed that tire information may have been released for the tire information placard for vehicles which required a different set of tire information. A check of a placard affixed to a potentially affected vehicle showed that the information did not correspond to the tires installed on the vehicle during assembly. Specifically, the tire size and recommended cold tire inflation pressure values did not match. A vehicle stop ship was immediately implemented. On May 1st, an engineering investigation was initiated. Reviews of engineering release information, vehicle assembly records, and regulatory requirements, were performed. The reviews indicated that tire information for certain tires within a data system was inappropriately used for certain vehicles during assembly. As a result, this led to tire information placards being printed and affixed to certain vehicles during assembly which were equipped with tires of a different size and recommended cold inflation pressure. On May 3, 2024, BMW determined that potentially affected vehicles may not fully conform to FMVSS 110 Section 4.3(c) and 4.3(d) and decided to conduct a voluntary non-compliance recall. BMW is not aware of any warranty claims, customer complaints, or field reports related to this issue. BMW has not received any reports, nor is BMW otherwise aware, of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : The tire information placard will be replaced.
Owners will be notified by First Class mail and instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized BMW dealer to have the remedy performed for free. If this condition were noticed on a potentially affected vehicle prior to this recall, the remedy would be covered by the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty program. Therefore, reimbursement for a pre- notification remedy re Part 573.13 and Part 577.11 is not necessary.
