RE: Recall 24V-xxx: Rear Door Trim Panel – M51 03 24
BMW AG has issued a Delivery Stop (effective May 8, 2024) on a small number of Model Year
2025 MINI vehicles that were produced between March 4, 2024, and March 22, 2024.
As of May 14, 2024, this Delivery Stop has been upgraded to a Safety Recall.
Please be reminded that it is a violation of federal law (The Safety Act) for you to sell,
lease or deliver any new motor vehicle covered by this notification until the recall repair
has been performed. This means that Centers may not legally deliver new motor
vehicles to consumers until they are fixed or use/sell replacement equipment/parts
subject to this recall. Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of the
Safety Act.
Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any Certified Pre-Owned or used vehicles
subject to a safety recall until the repair is completed.
Please follow any special instructions that we provide to you for the return or disposition
of recall parts.

The left and/or right rear side door panel may not have been produced by the supplier according
to specifications. The armrest could become loose and, in a crash, could contact a rear seat
occupant, or affect deployment of the thorax air bag.

Yes. However, when you are notified by MINI of this Safety Recall that a remedy is available,

Description of the Defect : This safety recall involves the rear side door panel. The armrest support bracket is attached to the door panel by two screws. During supplier production, the screws may not have been positioned according to specifications which could lead to an unsecure attachment. In a side crash in which deployment of the thorax air bag is warranted, the bracket may separate from the door panel.

On March 27, 2024, during rear side door assembly at the supplier, an inline production quality check indicated a no-pass condition. Analysis indicated that the screws connecting the armrest support bracket to the door panel were present, but not in the proper position. Additional reviews at the supplier were conducted. On April 2nd, an engineering investigation was initiated. Initial reviews suggested that this could lead to customer dissatisfaction, such as noise and/or vibration as a result of one or more loose screws at the attachment points. Further reviews indicated that on March 13th, there was a process change at the supplier involving the connection of the armrest support bracket to the door panel. Reviews of all rear side door panels produced on/after March 13th was initiated. End-of-line data was checked for proper positioning and fixation of the screws. Reviews suggested that this condition could have an affect during a crash. On April 15th, an assembly plant stop ship was implemented. Vehicle assembly information and supplier production records were reviewed to determine the number and production dates of potentially affected vehicles. On May 8, 2024, BMW decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall. BMW is not aware of any warranty claims, customer complaints, or field reports related to this issue. BMW has not received any reports, nor is BMW otherwise aware, of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.
