BMW of North America, LLC is recalling certain 2019 BMW X7 xDrive40i and X7 xDrive50i vehicles equipped with the “business lounge seat” option. The attachment bolts between the seat adapter and the vehicle may not have been properly tightened.
Remedy
None of the affected vehicles have been sold and are quarantined on dealer lots. BMW dealers will replace the attachment bolts for the seat adapter, free of charge. The recall began on February 27, 2019. Owners may contact BMW’s customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

BMW of North America, LLC is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall (effective February 27, 2019) on certain Model Year 2019 BMW X7 SAV vehicles that have been produced from October 30, 2018 through January 10, 2019. The attachment bolts for the adapter of the 2nd row business lounge seats may not have been fastened correctly.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Approximately 5 vehicles are affected by this delivery stop/recall.
Vehicles which require this Recall Campaign to be completed will show it as “Open” when checked either in AIR, the “Service Menu” of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or with ISPA NEXT and is identified with the description: 0052850100 B520119 Recall: 2nd Row Seat Connection (Option 4U5).
CAUSE
Insufficient torque may have been used when tightening the seat attachment bolts for the 2nd row business lounge seats
CORRECTION
Replace bolts for second row business lounge seats, both on left (Driver) and right (Passenger) sides.
PROCEDURE
Note: The bolts for the second row business lounge seats, both on left (Driver) and right (Passenger) need to be replaced!
Move second row seat fully rearward and then raise the seat fully to its highest position as shown here (up and back).
Remove seat rail trim cover from the front seat rail.
Remove bolt 1 and 2
Note: Replace bolts Use torque wrench and torque the M10 bolts to 42 Nm
(Collar bolt M10 X 28)
Install seat rail trim cover in the front.
Move the Driver’s (front left) seat fully forwards and keep the seat at its highest position (up and front).
Remove seat rail trim covers from the rear seat rails.
Remove bolt 3 and 4
Note: Replace bolts Use torque wrench and torque the M10 bolts to 42 Nm
(Collar bolt M10 X 28)
Install seat rail trim covers to the rear seat rails.
Repeat for opposite side.

Please be reminded that it is a violation of federal law (The Safety Act) for you to sell, lease or deliver any new motor vehicle covered by this notification until the recall repair has been performed. This means that centers may not legally deliver new motor vehicles to consumers until they are fixed or use/sell replacement equipment/parts subject to this recall. Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of the Safety Act.
Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any Certified Pre-Owned or used vehicles subject to a safety recall until the repair is completed.
