Summary
BMW of North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain 2018 BMW X5 xDrive35i, X5 xDrive50i, X5 xDrive35d, and X6 sDrive35i vehicles. The pivot bolt on the front lower-left control arm may not have been properly hardened, which may cause the control arm to break.
Remedy
BMW will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the lower-left control arms and replace if necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 20, 2018. Owners may contact BMW customer service at 1-800-525-7417.

SITUATION
BMW Group is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall (effective June 22, 2018) on certain Model Year 2018 BMW X5 and X6 vehicles produced from June 9-11, 2018.
Approximately 43 vehicles are affected by this delivery stop/recall.

Affected vehicles show the campaign as “Open” when checked either in Warranty Vehicle Inquiry, AIR or ISPA Next and identified with the description:

CAUSE
The durability of the front axle lower left side wishbone may not have been produced to specifications.
CORRECTION
Check the front lower left wishbone production date and, if necessary, replace the wishbone.
PROCEDURE
 | Check the production date on the front axle lower left side wishbone. The area containing the production date is circled.
If the production date states “155 2018 A” the wishbone must be replaced as per REP31 12 004 Note: SI B32 07 18 If it is any other production date, no further repairs are necessary. |

WARRANTY INFORMATION
The campaign Defect Code (00 31 87 01 00) that must be used for these Recall claim submissions will be available in the system the week of June 25, 2018.
You will need to have the repair order (RO) number and the RO close date to retail an affected vehicle once it is inspected and/or repaired as applicable.
Please ensure the claim for this Recall is promptly submitted through DCSnet once the campaign Defect Code becomes available as noted above.
Reimbursement for this Delivery Stop/Recall repair campaign will be via normal claim entry utilizing the following information:

BMW Group is conducting a Voluntary Safety Recall (effective June 22, 2018) on certain Model Year 2018 BMW X5 and X6 vehicles produced from June 9-11, 2018.
Owners will be notified by First Class mail about the Recall and will be instructed to bring their vehicles in for a free repair when parts are available.
Please be reminded that it is a violation of federal law (The Safety Act) for you to sell, lease or deliver any new motor vehicle covered by this notification until the recall repair has been performed. This means that centers may not legally deliver new motor vehicles to consumers until they are fixed or use/sell replacement equipment/parts subject to this recall. Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of the Safety Act.
Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any Certified Pre-Owned or used vehicles subject to a safety recall until the repair is completed.
