The illumination of the rear license plate may not meet a Federal requirement. The rear license plate bracket will be modified. The Recall Notice and Q&A have been attached for further information. CAUSE The position of the rear license plate bracket does not conform to federal lighting requirements. CORRECTION Rework the rear license plate bracket. PROCEDURE 1. If a rear license plate has already been installed, remove the rear license plate and continue to step 2. If a license plate has not yet been installed, continue to step 2. 2. Inspect the 2 mounting screws of the rear license plate bracket as shown to the left. Are both mounting screws installed ABOVE the traditionally used metal bushings? Yes: No further correction is necessary. No: Continue to step 3. 3. Remove the rear license plate bracket. 4. Using a 5mm drill bit, drill 2 new holes exactly 8mm directly above the metal bushings as shown to the left. 5. Reinstall the rear license plate bracket using the 2 new holes, tightening to 1.12 Nm. Also, only one Main work flat rate labor operation code can be claimed per workshop visit. Claim Repair Comments Reference the SIB number and the work package (Pkg) number performed in the RO technician notes and the claim comments (For example: B51 21 21 WP 1). Reimbursement of Prior Customer-Pay Repairs (TREAD Act) Based on the issue and the age of the Affected Vehicles being addressed by this Safety Recall Campaign, a reimbursement request for a qualifying prior customer-pay repair is not likely.
