The affected vehicles have been marked with campaign number 0000334700 in AIR.
In order to determine if a specific motorcycle is affected by this campaign, it will be necessary to verify the vehicle VIN in AIR (Aftersales Information Research). Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the repair or take no further action. Please note, open campaigns or vehicle stops may not appear in DCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry or sales systems until 24-72 hours after they are announced, therefore AIR is always the recommended method for determining open campaigns and vehicle stops.
SITUATION
After close inspection it has been found there was an issue during production of the suspension strut that the proportional valve in the suspension strut may loosen over the course of the service life. This results in a loss of damping function.
Since 9/18/23, only vehicles without this fault pattern are produced in series.
PROCEDURE
For vehicles that have not yet been delivered, the Recall must be completed before vehicle handover.
For affected K 1600 models and the R 1250 RT, the front and rear ESA suspension strut must be checked and replaced, if necessary.
Production date 230814 to 230911:
Suspension strut must be replaced if any of these production dates are listed on the strut in the location shown in the above figure;
(230814 / 230815 / 230816 / 230817 / 230818 / 230819 / 230820 / 230821 / 230822 / 230823 / 230824 / 230825 / 230826 / 230827 / 230828 / 230829 / 230830 / 230831 / 230901 / 230902 / 230903 / 230904 / 230905 / 230906 / 230907 / 230908 / 230909 / 2309010 / 230911).
NOTE: None of the suspension struts before or after these production dates are affected.
NHTSA STATEMENT
Please be reminded that it is a violation of federal law (The Safety Act) for you to sell, lease or deliver any new motorcycle covered by this notification until the recall repair has been performed. This means that dealers may not legally deliver new motorcycles to consumers until they are fixed or use/sell replacement equipment/parts subject to this recall. Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of the Safety Act. Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any used motorcycles subject to a safety recall until the repair is completed. Please follow any special instructions that we provide to you for the return or disposition of recall parts.

Front Spring Strut
Chronology
29 Feb 2024
On September 14, 2023, BMW was informed by the supplier that during internal quality controls one spring strut was discovered where within the damper the valve post had become disconnected from the proportional valve. An engineering investigation was initiated.
Preliminary information suggested an out-of-specification thread of the valve housing. A review of the supply chain indicated that a limited number of suspect front and rear spring struts may have been delivered to BMW where the proportional valve of the damper was not produced to specifications. No US motorcycles with potentially suspect struts had been released from the motorcycle assembly plant.
Between October and November, approximately 600 suspect spring struts were returned to the supplier from the motorcycle assembly plant for further analysis. Further investigations, including a complete review of the supply chain, showed that, contrary to first suspected cause (out-of-specification thread of the valve housing), the material of the valve housing was not according to specification.
On December 7, 2023, BMW was informed by the supplier of their results.
Motorcycle assembly information and supplier delivery records were reviewed to establish the number of motorcycles that may have been assembled with potentially affected spring struts.
Between December and January, assessments were conducted regarding the loss of the damping function. Initially, simulations and functional models for the front sprint strut were performed. Further analyses and road tests were planned.
On January 8, 2024, the review of motorcycle assembly information and supplier delivery records, which was initiated in December, was completed. On January 16, 2024, as a precaution, a delivery stop was issued to dealers, and on January 18, 2024, a service action was decided.
In February, the tests and analyses were completed.
On February 22, 2024, BMW decided to conduct a voluntary safety recall for motorcycles equipped with potentially affected front spring struts.
BMW has not received any reports, nor is BMW otherwise aware, of any accidents or injuries related to this issue.

UPDATE: Delivery Stop – Checking Suspension Strut
Delivery Stop 330008 is now associated with 33 04 24 Service Action: Check Suspension Strut
BMW Motorrad USA is announcing a delivery stop STOP330008 for R 1250 RT (K52), R 1250 RS (K54), K 1600 GT/GTL (K48), and K 1600 Bagger (K61) produced between 08/18/2023 and 09/15/2023.
Due to a manufacturing fault, the proportional valve within the suspension strut may come loose over its lifetime. As a result, this can lead to a loss of the damping function.
Affected vehicles are flagged in AIR (Aftersales Information Research) with campaign code STOP330008. Please note, open campaigns or vehicle stops may not appear in DCS Warranty Vehicle Inquiry or sales systems until 24-72 hours after they are announced, therefore AIR is always the recommended method for determining open campaigns and vehicle stops.
If you have a vehicle in your new/used inventory matching the above description it cannot be retailed until repaired.
UPDATES:
March 1st, 2024 – The service action for the K 1600 GT, K 1600 GTL, K 1600 B and R 1250 RT has been changed to Recall 24V-165 Check Front Suspension Strut. This does not change the service action for the R 1250 R and R 1250 RS. A new bulletin is being prepared and will be posted in due time.
NHTSA Statement

Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of the Safety Act.
Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any used vehicles in your inventory subject to a safety recall until the repair is completed.
